The team walked away with a first-place finish as Ailani Fuller, a Senior in the 97 pound weight class, lifted a combined weight of 470 pounds, impressing many.
“She is one of the strongest women in the entirety of powerlifting. Even lifting more than people in weight classes above her,” said Gerardo.
The power lifting team has high expectations for the season with many more meets to come and hopes to qualify for regional and state.
“I’m pretty confident this year, as I think we’ll have around five people placing for regional and two to three for state,” stated Riggs.
The team is ready to bring their usual high energy and spirits to their next competition to continue their season strong. Their next meet will be a co-ed meet for boys and girls held at Legacy Middle School over the weekend.
