Veterans Memorial High School hosted an enchanting Once Upon a Time prom night at Bella on the Vine on April 17. The junior class of VMHS transformed the venue into a realm of elegance under the lights of the ballroom. Decorations included silk lavender-clothed tables presenting dim-lit candles, flower bouquets and green leaves tracing down the pillars that filled the room.
Seniors arrived in proper attire, ready to celebrate the end of their high school year. The girls wore shimmering gowns of every hue, while the boys were in matching tuxedos or long-sleeve collared shirts. As the evening carried on, not a single space was empty on the dance floor, as sounds of laughter and squeals from the excitement of the night filled the room.
In between dances, students enjoyed sweet treats, refreshments, games and photo opportunities. Students lined up outside for a greenery-leaved backdrop to capture the night. Along with photo booths and backdrops, students enjoyed hula hooping, oversized Jenga and other games that were provided.
As the night came to a close, the king and queen of prom were crowned. This year’s winners were high school sweethearts Senior Kirsten Trevino and Sonny Kretzer, who received their crowns and sashes amid roars of cheers and voting.
“ I was honestly shocked but very happy nonetheless,” Trevino said.
Kretzer seconded that opinion, stating, “I was very excited and happy we got to win together.”
The night concluded with corsages and boutonniere petals scattering the floor after students shared a tender moment before bidding farewell to the unforgettable night. As they left the ballroom, they carried cherishing moments that would last a lifetime.,
