Girls Basketball District Game Win

Girls Basketball District Game Win

For the first time in three years, the Veterans Memorials 2024/2025 Varsity basketball girls team won their district game. This has been such a huge eye opener for the girls and the future of the following teams, giving everyone hope that their losses don’t define their whole season.

High hopes are in the air for our girls team to show off their capability of what they can do and what they’ve been working towards for their season. Their season this year is showing how capable they are of working hard to reach new limits.

“My hopes for the season is that our players start to believe that they can beat any team if they put their minds to it and work hard in practice. We’ve already beaten some good teams this year and now we need to be consistent,” explained Girls Varsity Basketball coach, Mario Mungia.

Mungia is Veterans’ new varsity head coach for this season. Before his new position, he was previously the girls JV basketball team coach. With this new head coach for the girls team there is hope for a new era of the team, filled with hard working players with many high hopes for their teams future.

“I’m hoping for us to just keep getting better and growing and hoping that leads to more wins,” said Chloe Enriquez, Sophomore, who is the teams’ shooting guard.

The hard work of these girls has been expressed through their games by their ability to learn more from each game and good game plans that were learned from continuous practice.

“We felt very accomplished and had hopes to beat our future opponents,” explains Aliana Polley, Sophomore, who is the teams’ point guard.

The potential for our girls basketball team in the future and the present is something Veterans is looking forward to. The season has just started, but the girls are hoping to finish strong. This should be a time for the pride of Patriots to show out and to support the girls through the rest of their season.
