Recap Of Triumphs And Goals

Improvement is the only word that can describe the Veterans Memorial Boys Soccer Team. Being halfway through the season, these boys have improved majorly compared to the previous seasons. In the 22-23 season they had a harsh district record of two wins, eleven losses, and one tie. Their record was five wins, eighteen losses, and two ties. Currently, the boys have a district record of three wins, six losses, and two ties. And an overall record of nine wins, eleven losses, and three ties with three games left to play. That’s a current 46% win rate compared to a 27% win rate in the 22-23 season.

“What has changed from this season to last season?”

“Chemistry has improved a lot, and adding many quality players has helped us a lot, too,” senior Arturo Hernandez, team captain, explained.

“Who are some quality players on the team?”

“Izaiah Garza, because he improves our midfield and has brought that extra chemistry that we’ve needed,” Hernandez bosted.

Former Austin FC player, senior Izaiah Garza said that he’s helped the team improve from last year by “applying” himself as much as he can. “Although it’s my first year playing school ball, I apply myself as much as I can and leave nothing in the tank and all out on the field like Kobe [Bryant] said,” Garza stated.

Although they are not yet guaranteed a playoff spot, they still have a chance. The team has to win its next three games against Seguin, Wagner, and Tivy without losses to make the playoffs for only the second time in Veterans Memorial History!
