Nearing the end of the school year, Patriot Nation is saying a heartwarming goodbye to Anne Ream, who is retiring. During this school year, she has served as a U.S. History teacher, but she was also a softball coach and a teacher of Mexican American studies the previous year.
Ream has expressed her love for History since she was in the sixth grade. As a teacher, she enjoys not only sharing her vast knowledge of History but also having fun times and teaching the kids life-long lessons. Despite having worked at VHMS for only two years, numerous students who have taken her classes have grown to love her. The students see Ream as a loving teacher who has created valuable bonds with the kids she teaches.
“I like to get my students involved in the learning aspect, and when they do, they begin to have fun experiences and bring up jokes about what I taught,” Ream explains. “The laughs that we share together are the most memorable moments I will never forget.”
Aside from teaching History, Ream has a strong passion for coaching softball. She has been a softball coach at Texas State, Samuel Clemens High School, Wagner High School and, of course, Veterans Memorial. Her most cherished memories are shared through her coaching career and the teams she has been with.
Ream stated, “I absolutely loved every bit of it. Watching the girls start where they are from the beginning of the school year to how much they have grown at the end of each year.”
Patriot Nation has been grateful to have such a wonderful staff member helping and achieving goals with students. All her hours were dedicated to her work with other staff members so that they could all accomplish great things in life.
