Playing at Davenport High School, the Patriot athletes will be fighting their hunger to win and for the hunger of others, by contributing to an annual fundraiser, the Peanut Butter Bowl.
The Peanut Butter Bowl is a series of highschool football games amassing financial donations and peanut butter to help feed those in need. The fundraiser is a way for students, athletes, parents and anyone who is able to contribute, to help communities in Texas by donating money or jars of peanut butter.
The donation of $2.00 is equivalent to one jar of peanut butter, which contributors can do online at https://peanutbutterbowl.com. Attendants are also encouraged to bring jars of peanut butter to the game to be collected.
“When you’re a person that has the resources, talent and capacity to help those around you, you should step up and help,” head football coach Robert Irvin, stated. He has prepared the athletes with the right mindset heading into the game, enlightening that they have the ability to help and take positive action for a good cause. With the help of the patriot community, a big step forward will be able to be made fighting against what’s right.
The VMHS football team kicks off their first official game of the season against Davenport this Friday at 7pm, donation and support are greatly appreciated by the community of VMHS.
