Food Fest was missed last year but returned this year with a huge turnout. Students joined together between all four lunches to enjoy snacks provided by school clubs and organizations. Students could buy tickets during lunches the week leading up to the big day.
The National Honor Society (NHS) sold hot Cheetos and cheese and fruit punch. Orchestra and Mariachi sold corn in a cup, and Cosmetology sold pickles sliced in the middle and filled with chamoy candy, tropical punch and candy bags. BPA sold popcorn, ramen and lumpia, while DECA sold honey buns and candy bars. The Heart Club sold manzanas locas and street tacos while the science department provided soft tacos. Pulled pork sandwiches and chips were available from Student Council and Computer Science. Softball sold candies covered in chamoy, while the Drama Club provided ice cream floats and fruit cups.
The art club made over $500, which was the most money raised from all the stands selling aguas frescas. Thanks to the hard work and creativity of the art club members, their booth was a huge hit, and they sold out. Not only did they bring refreshing drinks to the event, but they also raised funds for future art projects and supplies.
“I always enjoy Food Fest because it gives me a chance to spend time with all of my friends from other lunches. I also get time to grow my bonds within the clubs I participate in,” junior Jadyn Russell said. Russell participates in DECA, the Art club and NHS.
Many stands were left sold out, with hundreds of tickets in respective jars to turn into money for growing Patriot clubs. Despite the day’s heat, students and staff left smiling with delicious treats in hand.
“We can’t wait for the next food fest,” Art Club sponsor Melissa Stewart said. “We hope to do just as good, if not even better!”
