Last weekend The 2024-2025 Wrestling program competed at Regionals performing phenomenally against the toughest of wrestlers from Austin all the down to south of the Rio Grande Valley at Carroll high school in Corpus Christi in a 2 day competition. In the Caroll arena were 416 wrestlers representing 51 schools battling through 16 man brackets. On day 1 of the competition Senior Jackie Garza, Junior Aliani Solis-Fuller, Senior Natania Workman, Senior Aaliyah Washington, Senior Torrance Adkins, and Sophomore Joaquin De la Garza were able to advance to day 2 of the competition left to compete against the 208 wrestlers still remaining. Each wrestler fought hard and the team was able to walk away with 2 regional Placers and 2 State qualifiers displaying a tremendous amount of heart and grit. Those who placed in regionals are Aaliyah Washington in the 138 weight class placing 5th place, and Joaquin De La Garza placing 6th place in the 126 weight class. The state qualifiers are Torrance Adkins who placed 2nd at regionals in the 175 weight class and Natania Workman who placed 2nd at regionals in the 165 weight class. The state qualifiers are competing on both February 14 and 15th at the Berry Center in Cypress Texas against 226 schools.
The wrestling team has worked hard to help the wrestlers get to where they are now through their support and words of encouragement at their send off. However wrestlers only have support before and after a match from those around

The two wrestlers are now on their way to the competition to fight for their spot in the state competition representing the wrestling program, JISD, and their families .
