Are you interested in joining BPA? BPA stands for Business Professionals of America and their goal is to create a chance for all high school students to explore different business professions. They have many different programs, such as computer science, finance and accounting, graphic and web design, video production, and many more. They also help to work on creating resumes as students gain new achievements and communication development skills while participating in competitive events and getting potential scholarships. When students have chosen an event, they will have the opportunity to practice on Wednesdays after school for as long as they need to, but they should also be working outside of school when convenient. There are also lots of benefits to being a part of BPA. For example, awards and community service points will look great on college resumes. Students will have the chance to travel the world, meet new people, and gain experience for future jobs that they may be looking into. It really helps give students a touch of what it’s going to be like in the world of business. Rodney Neal is the BPA advisor. He also teaches business along with Stephen Owen here at Veterans Memorial. Neal has been doing this for nearly 21 years, while Owens has been involved in the BPA scene for four years but has been in business for much longer. If there are any concerns or any students interested in joining, Neal is located in D307A and Owen is located in A307. Suppose you feel more comfortable talking to a student. In that case, you can find one of the officers around the school, Rikki Cruz, Kaylin Sotelo, Nigel Badeo, Sophia Vasquez, Ariana Sanchez, and Saliyah Watts.
