Are you considering joining the Barbecue Club? This club made its appearance at VMHS last year and has already accomplished many things. The club’s mission is to think creatively about cooking, organizing campaigns, and raising funds.
The Barbecue Club allows members to prepare fresh foods, such as desserts, beans, chicken, brisket and pork ribs. Students can join if they are interested. Members don’t need any experience. Students can join just because they want to learn.
Everyone who joins can attend the competition if they make it to the top five of the two teams. Competitions are overnight and will be about two to three days because of how much they cook. The competitions will start around four thirty, beginning with the smokers at five, and then the advisors must leave the area.
Students have to make sure to be focused on their game because winners get big prizes. 1st place winners get a Fifteen thousand scholarship, 2nd place winners get a five thousand scholarship, and the 3rd place winners get a thousand dollar scholarship. If students have questions or concerns about the Barbecue Club, you can see one of the advisors, Michael Barclay, Samuel Lawson, or Laura Rohm.
