Bringing out Beauty in the Patriot Community

Veterans Memorial High School Cosmetology teacher Patricia Alejandro announced that the Patriot Salon and Spa is now up and running! Doors opened on Thursday, Sept. 14, and is open from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The salon was first introduced in 2018 and has continued to grow yearly. Students and staff have been preparing for the salon for the past three years and over that period of time, they’ve added spa facials, hair treatment, and chemical services, including highlights, hair color, silk press and permanent waves.

Opening day was a real success; stylists gave students and staff hairstyles, hair trims and facials, and nails. Mrs. Alejandro was there to observe the student stylists. She walked around and helped the stylist with helping hands and an open heart with any struggles they encountered.

As the salon came to a close, customers left with bright smiles, loving the results of their treatments. A student practiced hairstyles on a mannequin off to the side, preparing for new styles and graphics about hair styling, looking at the other stylist working, taking notes and learning by watching her co-workers work.

CJ Dears, a senior client at the salon’s opening Thursday, expressed his appreciation for his treatment on the salon’s first day back in business.  “It was [a] great [experience], I almost fell asleep.“ Dears received the Facial Spa, which is a facial that is “designed to give your face and neck a gentle cleanse, relaxing massage, exfoliation masque, and an infusion of moisture,” according to Cosmetology Menu of Services, which is located on the Judson ISD home page.

Patriots and community members can now book an appointment via email, contact a specific stylist they’re familiar with, or walk in. QR codes will also be available and posted around campus soon.

Hi! My name is Laura Meras. It's my first year being part of the Yearbook and Newspaper staff. I'm looking forward to the experience I'll have these upcoming years.  I'm a sophomore in the class of 2026. I've been playing the violin for five years and was recently selected to join the Varsity orchestra. Some hobbies of mine are reading, listening to music, thrifting, hanging out with friends, and looking for anything with Hello Kitty on it!  I plan to go into journalism after high school and possibly pursue forensics.
