Slipping Through the Sets

Patriots Lose Against Seguin

Friday, Sept. 15, the Patriots were defeated by Seguin in Volleyball with the final score 25-18.

Trinity Bishop, a senior, came out strong with her serving. Bishop set up her teammates to score. Bishop, #20, and Ariana DeLeon, freshman #16, shielded the front by blocking shots. Peyton Simpson, freshman #4, was on fire with her spikes as Bishop, #20, ended the first set with a score of 25-21 and a VMHS win.

In the second set, Maya Fields, senior #15, started the game with a beautiful set to Bishop, #20, with an impressive hit. Simpson, #4, had a beautiful pass to setter Fields, #15, so she could set up hitter Bishop, # 20. The Patriots were defeated with the set score of 25-19.

The third set opened with the Patriots looking to pull through strong. Bishop and Simpson started with a strong spike and worked for the win. However, the Patriots were defeated with a final score of 25-18.

The girls were strong for the matches and they put up a fight to win the game. They started strong by putting up the first points on the scoreboard as Bishop and Katelyn Riojas, senior #13, executed amazing blocks together. Fields with the save to get the ball over the net to keep the game going nonstop back and forth from both teams had an amazing rally in the fourth set. Cameron Danaher, sophomore #2, was putting in that work running after the ball, digging it up to keep it in the air, and passing it to setter Fields.  She set hitter Bishop up so she could get a spike. The Patriots had amazing matches, putting up a fight throughout their sets. Unfortunately, the night ended with a defeat.

The Patriot Varsity Volleyball team had a home game on Oct. 15.  Friday night, VMHS took on Seguin Lady Matadors. Coach Wrenee Danaher called a timeout to give a pep talk during the game. Patriots lost the match 1-3.
